Create Spa Retreat Your Bathroom

If you're like me, after working hard from Monday to Friday - the first thing I ask on Saturday morning is a quiet and relaxing bath followed by a steam facial and maybe a manicure. Usually requiring a trip to the local day spa, but with some upgrades to modernize your bathroom - you can bring the spa feeling at home!

There are a few key elements to create a spa bathroom and these things are calming colors, soft decor, lighting and natural textures in the furniture and equipment.

Colors: We go to the spa for relaxation and ultimate goal is total relaxation. Wall decor and colors are an essential part of recreating your spa retreat bathroom. Warm neutral colors are your best bet. Brown, sage green and even yellow are all earthy colors that are relaxing. Avoid white as it is usually very cold and clinical color and otherwise avoid bright vibrant colors, because they cry and dynamic energy.

* Tip - If you spend time applying your makeup in the bathroom, choose a paint color that also compliments your complexion. If you have natural red undertones in your skin - dyed green with a key clash in May when applying your makeup in the mirror.

Soft Set and lighting: a bright light and decor is very complete antithesis to a spa like atmosphere, where lighting and other decoration play a major role in achieving in the retirement home the impression that you are looking for. The natural lighting will work best for this purpose, if your bathroom is equipped with Windows or skylights, you're a step ahead of things here. If not, look for light coatings providing a softening for bulbs.Halogen light bulbs are an excellent alternative. The set should also be made of metal and soft muted tones. Avoid shiny chrome or brass fittings.

* Tip - if you have the budget to include in your remodeling project, consider installing a dimmer lighting in your bathroom. This will allow you to quickly and easily move from brighter lighting for a soft light as needed.

Vanity and sink: your furniture, bathroom, through the vanity sink and add the finishing touch to your spa retreat. When possible, incorporate different textures and materials in your design. For example, exotic woods mixed with stone or solid wood color combined with frosted glass shelves counter. Lines must be clean and your equipment must be both free and discreet too.

Have fun with your new space and add a music source, over size shower heads and seats as well. With a few more pieces of accent, like flowers, candles and water games - you'll be well on your way to a calming retreat.
